Area 4 Licola

March 8,9 and 10th -- Labor Day long weekend

Kelly's Hut
Repair replace roofing and ridge capping sheets -Repair / Rebuild /
resheet chiminey using timber and metal -Complete stone work for new
fire place -Replace timber post / rail inside overhang -Install VHCHA
aluminium book holder -General tidy up

McMichaels Hut
General tidy up if required
Install VHCHA aluminium book holder

Guy's Hut
Carry in concrete and erect signage
Install VHCHA aluminium book holder
General tidy up

Moroka and Horseyard Yard Flat Huts works to be confirmed.

All members attending MUST contact Michael Vanderzalm prior to traveling to and arriving at the site.

VHCHA Fire Risk Management Policy : For HMOs and vistors to huts in the high country : Please review the guidelines for assessing fire risk before heading to the High Country or National/State parks.

Area 4 Licola
Weekend of January 18th - 20th 2008  - North of Licola

 
Meet in the afternoon of Friday 18th of January at "Shaws Creek Camp Ground" (South end of Kelly's lane). Huts are Guys, Kelly's,McMichael's
Works are as follow:
- Re-Roofing works
- Dismantle and reconstruction of a chiminey
- Replace timbers
- Install signage
- Summer fire session prevention works
- Tidy up

Some specific hand tools and scaffolding blanks and ladders will be needed to be supplied  for this weekend and HMO Michael Vanderzalm will arrange this with members as their attendance is confirmed.

All members attending MUST contact Michael Vanderzalm prior to traveling to and arriving at the site as many roads and tracks are currently closed.

Hut Heritage Survey

 

VHCHA, with DSE advice and assistance, propose to conduct a heritage survey of huts in our Marysville and Baw Baw areas which have not been included in previous surveys. If you would like to assist in the on-ground survey work please contact our two HMOs for those areas, Peter Graham – Marysville or Charles Burgess – Baw Baw.

 

David Oldfield, is coordinating the whole survey, and would be very glad to receive any information you may have about the history of any of these huts or offers of help to research their history.

The huts are:

 Area 5 (Baw Baw) Connors, Falls Creek, Fulton Creek shelter, Goonans, Jans, Johnson, Jorgensons Flat, Junction, Mongrel Point, Mt Useful, N18, NBW, S16, Sambar Lodge, Scout, Store Point, Toombon village. 

Area 6 (Marysville)

Cambarvale village, Federation Link Road, Fifteen Mile, Frenchmans Spur, Keppels, Nissen, Refuge, Ryans Spur, Stones Outstation, Sugarloaf fire tower, Whiskey Creek, Wilsons Creek.
